Marietta is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, and serves as the county seat. The city had a population of 56,579 residents as of the 2010 census. The gardens feature an 1870s boxwood parterre. Major General Loring’s headquarters were located at Oakton during the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in 1864.
